[#Maldives] Trip Report : SEP.28 – OCT.04 2019, #Male – #Baa Route Vol.4

Day 4, the 1st dive of the day was at Kihaadhoofaru Thila in the Baa atoll. The visibility was great. Since it was in the early morning, the Tawny Nurse Sharks were resting underneath of the overhang. And the regular Blotched Fantail Ray was floating just like a flying carpet. The vivid soft corals, Sea Goldies and Indian Flame Basslets made a beautiful and colorful landscape. The 2nd dive was at Reethi Gaa, which had a Manta’s cleaning station, because we were told that there were Manta Rays. Indeed, there was a Alfred Manta Ray getting cleaned at the station. And surprisingly another Manta Ray joined, so total 2 of them what we could observe for entire of the 2nd dive.  Because we have not heard of any good news about Manta Rays in the Hanifaru bay, we tried to search for Manta Rays in a lagoon, which had a similar landscape as the Hanifaru bay after the 2nd dive. Luckily we found about a couple of dozens of Manta Rays and snorkeled with them in the lagoon!! The 3rd dive was at Dharavandhoo Corner. Unfortunately we could not find any Manta Rays, but we found a Whale Shark instead!!! It was as big as 8 meters length! Hooray!!  The air temperature was 26-31 deg.C.  The water temperature was 28-29 deg.C. The 3mm or 5 mm wetsuit was recommended. The visibility was 10-30m.  To be continued…
