Valentina SOCORRO Apr7 Trip Report
Valentina SOCORRO Apr7 Trip Dive Logs

(Day 1) Apr 9, 2025 – Isla San Benedicto (El Cañon)
4 dives. Visibility: 20 meters. Water temperature: 23°C.
The dives were done under very strong currents, but the sharks were extremely active. From the very first dive, manta rays and dolphins appeared. However, due to the strength of the current, some divers chose to skip the second or third dive due to physical strain.
It was a physically demanding day of diving, but everyone got to see some exciting marine life, which made it a satisfying start.

(Day 2) Apr 10, 2025 – El Boiler
Due to the presence of several other boats, only 3 dives were done this day.
Visibility: 20 meters. Water temperature: 22°C. It was a manta-filled day.
Compared to the previous day, the current had significantly calmed down, allowing for more stable dives. In the evening, the boat moved toward Socorro Island.

(Day 3) Apr 11, 2025 – Isla Socorro (Cabo Pierce)
Underwater volcanic ash stirred up from the seabed caused poor visibility.
Visibility: 10 meters. Water temperature: 23°C.
Despite completing 4 dives and spotting manta rays and dolphins, they didn’t come very close, leaving divers a bit unsatisfied.
But that’s diving—some days are like this. Everyone looked forward to the next day.

(Day 4) Apr 12, 2025
Responding to requests to dive after visibility improved, the usual Navy inspection (normally done in the afternoon) was moved to the morning.
Only 2 dives were conducted in the afternoon. Unfortunately, visibility didn’t recover, so it was decided to move to the Boiler and Cañon areas for the remaining 2 days.

(Day 5) Apr 13, 2025 – Isla San Benedicto (El Boiler)
In contrast to Socorro Island, conditions were excellent. Calm seas with little swell.
Visibility: 20 meters. Water temperature: 23°C.
The first two dives were at Boiler with lots of manta interaction. The latter two dives were at Cañon.
In the afternoon, currents began to pick up and visibility dropped slightly, but sharks and mantas still showed up clearly.

(Day 6) Apr 14, 2025 – El Cañon
Conditions improved dramatically compared to the previous day.
Visibility: 30 meters. Water temperature: 23°C.
All three dives were fantastic! Countless sharks, with hammerhead schools making a huge impression.
As manta rays glided by, Galapagos sharks, silver tips, silkies, white tips, and even tiger sharks appeared one after another.
A spectacular final day to end the diving trip.
