[#Maldives] Trip Report : APR.20 – 26, 2019, #Male – #Ari – #Vaavu Route Vol.1

Hi! Here is the latest trip report! The day 1, the 1st dive was at Maagiri Rock in the North Male atoll. The big curtain of Bluestriped Snappers welcomed us in the water. At the sand area, I was very lucky to have an eye contact with a Golden Mantis Shrimp! Also Garden Eels and Spaghetti Eels were seen in the sand. The 2nd dive was at Fish Tank. It was funny to see the Pink Whipray was running around on the sand! Besides, Moray Eels, False Moorish Idols and Napoleon fish were seen.

The day 2, it was cloudy having a squall passed in the early morning again. The 1st dive of the day was at Rasdhoo Madivaru in the Rasdhoo atoll. There was an okay current not too strong and not too weak. There were some Grey Reef Sharks at the tip of the channel. And big fat Dogtooth Tunas appeared. They became one of the regular kinds here. The huge school of Bigeye Trevallies surprised us as well. The 2nd dive was at Kan Thila in the North Ari atoll. There was no current at all unfortunately. It was very unusual to see all the Redtoothed Triggerfish were NOT looking at the same direction! Grey Reef Sharks were also unusually seen on the reef so we could observe them closely. The 3rd dive was at Fish Head. Although the visibility wasn’t great, but more than two times of fish we could see. A big school of Yellowback Fusiliers were getting attacked by Giant Trevallies, Bluefin Trevallies and Dogtooth Tunas. Besides, Grey Reef Sharks, Bengal Snappers and a hungry Sea Turtles were seen.

The air temperature was 26-33 deg.C. The water temperature was 28-29 deg.C. The 3mm wetsuit was recommended. To be continued…
