[#Maldives] Trip Report : AUG.10 – 16, 2019, #Male – #Ari – #Vaavu Route Vol.3

The day 4, the 1st dive of the day was at Five Rocks in the South Ari atoll. There are five big reeves at this point as it is named. I love the beauty of the Seafan on the overhangs. And also the Sea Goldies on the top of the soft corals were brilliant in coloration. The 2nd dive was at Devana Kandu in the Vaavu atoll. Although the current wasn’t strong in the channel we still saw many of the Grey Reef Sharks at the edge of the channel. A couple of Manta Rays passed by. Spotted Eagle Rays, Giant Trevallies and Bluefin Trevallies were gathered around the edge as well. At the rocky area, we could observe the endemic Exquisite Firefish, which was characteristically colored yellow-ish. The 3rd dive was at Miyaru Kandu. Miyaru means Shark in the local language. And we saw many of the Whitetip Reef Sharks and Grey Reef Sharks as expected.  The 4th dive was at Alimathaa Jetty as a night dive. This point is very well known with many Tawney Nurse Sharks, Pink Whiprays and Giant Trevallies. Normally, they come to you and don’t care about divers so they hit you accidentally. I was looking forward to it, but I didn’t get the hit. Bummer! The air temperature was 26-31 deg.C. The water temperature was 28-29 deg.C. The 3mm or 5 mm wetsuit was recommended. To be continued…
